Since the summer, Mette-Marritt’s eldest son has accused several of his former partners of physical and emotional abuse, and in recent weeks has added three counts of rape, for which he was placed in preventive detention for a week.

After spending a week in pre-trial detention, Maris Borg was released on November 27. Police did not request an extension because they considered there was no danger of Marius destroying evidence or influencing witnesses in the investigation. Agents also warned that another case related to sex crimes was being investigated and confirmed that the previous charge (for rape) had not changed.
