The singer shared her thoughts during a conversation with Dave Grutman at Art Basel Miami Beach, where she talked about what it means to be a “Miami Girl” and what she thinks is important after turning 27.
The singer was born in Cuba and grew up in Miami. However, many were not aware of his background. “I think this album was also really special because I don’t think people knew I was a Miami girl, and I think people resonated with the little Miami things that were put on that album,” she said during the panel. He continued. “For me, change and change feels very natural and I’m always changing and I understand pushing your own boundaries, but maybe not alienating people… I think this last album was like that for me.”
