The monarchs continue their state visit to Italy and begin setting aside their agenda before heading to Naples this Thursday. After a formal reception, a wreath laying at the altar of the homeland, a meeting with Georgia Meloni and the country’s President Sergio Mattarella and his daughter Laura, Don Felipe opened a business forum, while Mrs. Letizia visited the headquarters of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations FAO in Rome.
The Queen held a meeting with Spanish staff who work at the FAO, an entity that focuses on eradicating world hunger and provides its services to both developed and developing countries. Doña Letizia is very involved in the right to healthy food for everyone that is sustainable from a social, economic and environmental point of view.
For this engagement, Queen Letizia wore a jacket and straight skirt suit in white and dark gray tones and marked her waist with a large black belt, as did her bag and shoes.
Furthermore, the Queen’s commitment to this UN body is complete and she has supported it in her speeches and meetings with its top leaders. It should be noted that Ms. Letizia has been FAO’s Special Envoy on Nutrition since 2015.
The plan of the king in Rome
While the Queen was in the center of the Eternal City, near the Circo Massimo and Coslio, where the FAO is located, King Felipe was in the Cardinal Gallery of the Colonna Palace where he had breakfast with a delegation of Italian and Spanish businessmen and later he inaugurated a business forum. The Colonna Palace is a block of palatial buildings in the center of Rome, at the foot of the Quirinal Hill. It has belonged to the Colonna family for centuries.
Subsequently, the kings will depart for Naples, where they will arrive after noon. At Villa Rosebery they will meet again with President Mattarella who will host a luncheon in their honor. The site is a monumental neoclassical complex that was conceived as a royal residence in the Posillipo neighborhood and is currently one of the three official residences of the President of the Italian Republic.
