The scandals involving Marius Borg, the eldest son of Norway’s Mette-Merit, put the spotlight on everyone around him, who could be affected in one way or another. Similarly, it also revived the controversial past of the future queen consort and, more specifically, the controversial figure embodied by the young man’s father.
Morten Borg is the man on whom many now put a magnifying glass, not only because he is Marius’ father but because of the criminal record behind him. It is true that we are talking about events punishable by law that happened more than three decades ago, although many people see that their child is repeating certain patterns of behavior, no matter what, do not forgive him in any way.
Record of drug trafficking offences
According to Nordic media, the princess’ ex-boyfriend was arrested for drug trafficking in the 90s. B.T.Where it is claimed that Morten has been imprisoned twice for possession, purchase and sale of cocaine. It should be noted that the half-brother of Prince Ingrid Alexandra and Savare Magnus admitted in a statement last October that he was a drug user, for which he said he was already being treated by professionals.
The accusations against Marius’ father did not end there, as he was also accused of other violent attitudes and drunk driving, which caused serious problems with the police in his youth. During all this time he worked as a DJ in electronic music venues and was spending nights with abandon in Oslo, when he met Mette-Merit.
From there the two had a brief romance, which would later lead to the birth of Marius, but when they had already gone their separate ways, the now-Princess decided to keep her son single in January 1997. When the child came into the world, Morten did not ignore him and spent time with the boy every weekend while living in an apartment in the Norwegian capital. When the little boy turns two, Mette-Merit will meet Haakon, the heir to the Scandinavian throne, and his story will change forever.
From the beginning and to this day, according to the country’s press, the relationship between the royal couple and Morten Borg has been quite cordial. In fact, the latter attended the couple’s royal wedding in August 2001, and there have also been images of the three together, matching Marius being taken to school as a child. Of course, as he grew up, he remained in the custody of Mette-Mérit, who inducted her first-born son as one of the royal family (though he received no title).
Divorced from one model and father of another
Today, Morten Borg is 54 years old, he works as a businessman and a financial analyst, living a very quiet life that has nothing to do with his turbulent past. She always stayed out of the palace limelight and avoided any kind of public exposure, giving no reason to tarnish her ex’s image or reveal any dirty laundry. Emotionally, he rebuilds his life in Oslo with model Celine Maktabi, the daughter of a well-known Lebanese Persian carpet merchant.
After getting engaged during a trip to the Egyptian city of Hurghada, they married in September 2004 at Bygdoy Church, and Marius was one of the main characters at the wedding. He distributed the ceremony program to the 100 guests and led the bride and groom through the interior of the church. “Congratulations, Dad!” cried the little boy as he jumped into the back of the car carrying the newlyweds.
It was a marriage that lasted 15 years and from which another child was born, Lucas, Marius’s half-brother on his father’s side. Before marrying Morten, Celine also had a son from a previous relationship named Emmanuel. Following in his mother’s footsteps, he is a very attractive boy who works as a model and is the same age as Mette-Méritt’s son, with whom he maintains a close relationship.
