“Suri believed she was in love and wasn’t afraid to show the world, so the breakup wasn’t easy for her, but she worked through it with the help of her friends,” a source told the publication.
The pair were also friends, something that made the breakup all the more painful. “They quietly split at the end of the summer,” the source continued.
“She’s been good friends with him for a long time so that made it particularly difficult but she’s a strong young woman.”
Cohen is in Boston, studying at Berklee College of Music while Cruz lives in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where he attends Carnegie Mellon University.

Over the past few months, Cruz has been getting used to living in a new city. Last week he returned to his hometown to spend Thanksgiving with his mother, Katie Holmes.
On November 27, she was spotted walking around Brooklyn, carrying a coffee and a brown bag that probably contained some pastries. She wore a casual look made up of navy pants, an olive green puffer and some camel colored suede Birkenstocks.
On the same day, Holmes was photographed on his way to work at the Barrymore Theatre, where he was scheduled to perform a show of “Our Town”.
Although her daughter’s move from town was probably hard to deal with, Holmes seems thrilled with the change of pace for her daughter and the opportunity to experience new things for herself. “I think of his age and the experience of that exciting time of beginning,” he said in an interview City and country.
“It’s exciting to find out about myself, and I loved that time in my life. It makes me happy to think like that.”
