Austin Butler Patrick Bateman has been chosen to play the desired role. The ‘Elvis’ star is about to perform Luca GuadagninoBy this new interpretation of the book ‘American Psycho’ Brett Easton Ellis. After speculation about who would be the best actor for the role, Variety confirmed Austin’s involvement in the upcoming production.
Jacob Elordi, Nicolas Alexander Chavez and other stars were rumored to be in the casting process. However, the part eventually went to Austin, who has been involved in multiple high-budget blockbusters over the past few years.
The new project is said to be a different take on the 2000 cult classic, with a script by Scott Z Burns, unlike the first remake, which starred Christian Bale as Patrick Bateman. As reported by Variety, the upcoming movie “may have a larger erotic emphasis than the original horror satire” and the new Patrick Bateman may be a completely different character from Bale’s portrayal.
This isn’t the first time Guadagnino has dabbled in the horror genre, as he previously directed ‘Suspiria’ starring Dakota Johnson and Mia Goth and ‘Bones and All’ starring Taylor Russell and Timothée Chalamet.
The acclaimed Italian director is enjoying the success of ‘Queer’ and ‘Challengers’, both of which received Golden Globe nominations. Daniel Craig is nominated for Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Motion Picture, while Zendaya is up for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Motion Picture.
