Daddy Yankee and Miredys Gonzalez are getting a divorce. The couple, who have been together since the age of 17, shared the news of their split on social media.
The Yankee, born Ramon Luis Ayala Rodriguez, shared a statement on his Instagram stories, revealing that Gonzalez has filed for divorce and that he respects her decision. “With a heart full of honor and integrity, I want to share some important news from my personal life,” he wrote in Spanish.
“After more than two decades of marriage and many months of trying to save my marriage, which my wife and I share, today my lawyers responded to the divorce petition received by Miredes.”
“I respect Miredes’ decision, and I am grateful for the time we shared, full of blessings and values, with love and a beautiful family that will continue to be our priority,” he concluded by sharing this statement. Only one thing he would like to do about the conclusion of his marriage.
Yankee and Gonzalez married in 1994, when they were 17 years old. They share three children: Jesselis Marie, 28, Yamilet Rodriguez, 29, and Jeremy, 26.
In addition to their marriage, the pair worked together for decades, with Gonzalez serving as Yankee’s manager and CEO of his record label, El Cartel Records.

Yankee and Gonzalez have chosen to keep their lives private and out of the public eye. Following the Yankees’ retirement in 2022, Gonzalez shared a statement on social media praising the Yankees’ career and his future.
“I have mixed feelings today. I’m happy and I’m sad,” he wrote in Spanish on Instagram.
“As we celebrate our 27th wedding anniversary, I see you telling the world that you are retiring from music, which has been your passion for the past three decades. Soon you will say goodbye to the stage. You have enjoyed Daddy Yankee for so long but now, Raymond Ayala. It’s time to enjoy what he has created.”
