The reopening of Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris this Saturday night has become a summit of heads of state and dignitaries. It was possible to see among the attendees Donald TrumpPresident-elect of the United States, and Prince William. After the ceremony, they held a private meeting in the yellow room of the UK ambassador’s residence in the French capital.
A meeting that left behind some of the most curious anecdotes. As soon as he walked through the door, the American politician hailed the eldest son of King Charles III and the unforgettable Diana of Wales. “A good man, he’s doing a great job,” she noted as she gave him a warm handshake.
The future King of England, for his part, is interested in hearing Donald Trump’s views on this historic day. “It was a beautiful ceremony.” However, the billionaire admitted that he has not yet warmed up. It should be noted that the secular part of the re-opening was supposed to take place outside the cathedral, but due to adverse weather conditions, cold, wind and rain, everything had to take place inside the temple.
The meeting between Prince William and Donald Trump lasted about 40 minutes. Reported from Kensington Palace, they held a friendly discussion on the close and historic relationship between the UK and the US, as well as tackling other global issues. Similarly, the magnet took the opportunity to share some of his memories with Queen Elizabeth II with the Prince of Wales.
A royal date in Paris
Prince William isn’t the only royal to have traveled to the city of Seine, as Prince Albert of Monaco also attended the event, this time without Princess Charlene; King of Belgium, Philippe and Matilda; and the Grand Dukes of Luxembourg, Henri and Maria Theresa. It should be noted that France has great connections with these last three countries.
Among the attendees he was able to see other famous people such as François-Henri Pinault and his wife actress Salma Hayek; former presidents Nicolas Sarkozy and Carla Bruni; Elon Musk Jill Biden; and Volodymyr Zelensky, President of Ukraine.
Emmanuel Macron, the President of the Republic, served as host with an emotional speech in which he recalled the brave and hard work of the firefighters and restorers, who made it possible to relight the temple in just five years. “For those who were present at that moment, we are ready to return Notre Dame to Catholics, to Paris and to the whole world. The bells and the organ are ringing again, a hope for Parisians, French people and people around the world. Bad luck and flames took the bell tower and we ended up watching the bravery of the firefighters and their superiors.”
