Jamie Foxx is coming clean about his health. The actor and producer has avoided discussing his health since his hospitalization in April 2023, when his life was in danger and many thought he would not survive.
Fox will tell its story in a Netflix special, with the streamer sharing its first teaser earlier this week.
The special is titled “Jamie Foxx: What Had Happened Was…” and is a stand-up comedy show hosted by Hamish Hamilton that appears to be Foxx’s way of sharing his story in his own words.
“I’m back!” said the Fox special. “If I can stay funny, I can stay alive.”
special This will premiere on December 10, on netflix. The teaser was shared today and shows Fox addressing a packed room after showing some of the headlines and news clippings that came out after his health scare.
Fox discussed the trailer on its social media, revealing that it was shot in Atlanta. “A big shout out to Atlanta you showed up and made me feel safe after 18 years of not being on stage for showing up and making me feel like it was yesterday… can’t wait for everyone to feel the vibe that we had,” she captioned her post. wrote in the caption.
“We laughed… we had some tears… but the end, but at least we celebrated life.”

Netflix has shared a synopsis of the show on their website Tudam. “The special comes after Fox’s 2023 hospitalization, and the Oscar- and Grammy-winning comedy icon sets the record straight with humor and vulnerability, expressing deep gratitude to those who have supported his recovery,” it read.
Foxx has another project set to premiere on Netflix next year. She stars alongside Cameron Diaz in the highly anticipated action-comedy “Back in Action,” premiering Jan. 17.
