Kelly Ripa, like many women, had a major crush on Richard Gere. The TV personality has long been a fan of her work and even had the chance to save someone’s life with her.
The moment was discussed on a recent episode of “Live with Kelly and Mark,” with Gere revealing that he almost didn’t make it to the show because he was too busy behind the scenes on his book.
© NBC“You’ve got to read this,” Gere told the audience as he held out a copy of Ripper’s book, “Live Wire: Long Winded Short Stories.”
“Because I never laughed like that.”
As Gere and Ripa began to recount the moment, Gere shared that her husband, Mark Consuelles, was also in the room when it all happened. “But let’s not bring him into this!” Ripa said, sparking laughter from the audience.
“There’s an entire chapter dedicated to Richard Gere,” Ripa explained to the audience. “There’s a woman who walks into a dinner party and when she leaves everyone scatters like rats. Except for St. Richard Gere and his soldier Kelly.”
“And I called 911,” Consueles said.
“He was spinning back,” Ripa said. “In my mind, Richard sees something in me, maybe a co-star potential, who knows. He’s never seen me work with him like that,” she said.
Ripa shared that she bumped into Gere sometime later and brought up the story again, hoping for kinship. “I bumped into Richard Gere at the end of the summer, after I heard this story that anyone would listen to.”
“I walk up to you because I’m traumatized. And I go, ‘Richard. Can you believe summer is over? Remember when it started and we saved that woman’s life?'”
“And Richard Gere looked at me and said, ‘You were there?'”
Ripper Sweet Messages for Husband
Earlier this week, Ripa shared a story from Consuelo’s recent modeling gig, where she starred in an ad for shoe brand Stuart Weitzman. The photo shows Consueles in black boxers, socks and matching shoes, looking incredibly fit and dreamy.
“Dear diary, I woke up today to discover I’m married to a model,” he captioned the post.
He also shared a story of a TikToker thirsting after Mark by sharing his deal. “Marc Consueles is the first male face of shoe brand Stuart Weitzman. But let’s be real, he’s actually the body.”
“Congratulations to Miss Kelly Ripa,” he says near the end of the clip. “Damn girl.”
Adding a humorous touch of her own, Ripa wrote, “I’m Kelly Ripa and I approve of this message.”
