Norway’s Mette-Merit resumed her official agenda eight days after freeing her son Marius Borg while police investigate a new sex crime. Along with Prince Haakon, they served as hosts at a lunch held annually at the Royal Palace in Oslo with the country’s bishops, which began with a liturgical song, All sold go sign dig.
Thursday’s appointment is the first in nearly a month and comes after he canceled an appearance at a cinema in the Norwegian capital on November 26 where a documentary was due to be released at the last minute. The Royal Family justified this absence by citing chronic pulmonary fibrosis which he had been suffering from for years. “The Crown Princess must cancel today’s official program. Her Royal Highness, Crown Princess Mette-Merritt has resumed treatment for her lung disease. “Previous experience has shown that medications can cause side effects that could have consequences for the Crown Princess’s official schedule.”
In 2018, Prince Haakon’s wife was diagnosed with an unusual form of pulmonary fibrosis, which causes inflammation, hardening and scarring of lung tissue, slowly and gradually deteriorating respiratory function. Since then, the princess has had to adjust her schedule or cancel her appearance on several occasions.
Attendance at this meal is marked by anticipation and, amid the scandal that has been affecting Marius Borg for months, she had a virgin son before meeting Prince Haakon. He was released on November 27 after a week in temporary prison. Police decided not to request an extension because they felt Marius was in no danger of destroying evidence or influencing witnesses. Then, the agents warned that they were investigating another case related to sex crimes and confirmed that the previous charge (for rape) had not changed.
Marius Borg has already been arrested three times in three months. In addition to the alleged rape, he faces charges of violence, threats and failure to comply with a restraining order. There are six alleged victims in the criminal case against Mette-Merritt’s son from Norway, and two of them are his ex-girlfriends: Nora Hockland and Julianne Snekestad. He admitted one charge, but pleaded not guilty to others.
