As 14 weeks of the NFL season come to a close, the playoff field is starting to take shape.
The Philadelphia Eagles have officially clinched a postseason spot after their win over the Carolina Panthers on Sunday afternoon. This makes them the second NFC team, along with the Detroit Lions. The Buffalo Bills and Kansas City Chiefs — who won their ninth straight division title with a bank-in kick Sunday night — have already clinched spots in the AFC.
Several teams were also eliminated on Sunday, including the New York Jets. They have now not been to the playoffs since 2010, the longest active drought in the NFL, NBA, WNBA, NHL and MLB.
The Cowboys and Bengals, who both could use a win if they are going to save their seasons, will officially wrap up Week 14 on Monday night.
Saints’ Derek Carr left early with a hand injury
Derek Carr’s season may be over.
The Saints quarterback left their win over the New York Giants early Sunday when he landed directly on his left wrist and forearm. Carr scrambled for a first down as he intercepted three other players, and was clearly in a lot of pain before taking the field.
Carr hasn’t returned, and the Saints fear he’s broken his arm. It is unclear how long he will be sidelined or if he will be able to return later this season.
Although the Saints have won three of their last four games, they sit at just 5-8 on the season. Without Carr down the stretch, securing a playoff berth will likely be incredibly difficult.
Aidan O’Connell card off
Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Aidan O’Connell was sidelined Sunday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with a foot injury. While we’re still waiting for more information and tests on his return, coach Antonio Pierce said after the game that it “doesn’t feel good.”
O’Connell was tackled in the back by Bucs defensive end Kalijah Cancy while scrambling. Kensi tackled O’Connell two steps after getting free from O’Connell’s ball, but somehow he didn’t draw the penalty.
Gene Steratore said Calijah Canci should have clearly been flagged for a passer penalty. Tough look for the Bucs.

O’Connell’s leg was placed in an air cast and he was carted off the field. Instead, Desmond Reeder entered the field.
The injury is the latest for the Raiders at quarterback this season. On the bright side though, they are currently on track to have the No. 1 pick in next spring’s NFL Draft. That should count for something.
