For now, Randy Moss is pulling out of ESPN’s Sunday NFL Countdown due to health reasons. Moss addressed the issue during last week’s show, while explaining why he wore blue sunglasses on-air.
In a statement released Friday, ESPN PR announced that Moss will be away from the show “for an extended period of time to focus on personal health challenges.”
“He has the full support of ESPN and we look forward to welcoming him when he is ready,” the network added in the statement.
The Hall of Fame wide receiver-turned-analyst opened last Sunday’s show by saying he was “struggling with something internally” and would be wearing blue-tinted glasses as a result.
“I’ve got some great doctors around me. I couldn’t miss the show, I wanted to be here with you guys, I feel great. But if you see me with these Michigan turnover glasses on, it’s not disrespectful,” Moss said Sunday. “I’m fighting something.”
In a video posted to Instagram last Sunday, Moss said he was dealing with “internal” issues throughout the week of Thanksgiving and encouraged people to contact their doctors.
Moss has been an analyst for “Sunday NFL Countdown” since 2016 and is the longest-tenured panelist on the show.
