Under a bright sun, Monaco celebrated its National Day this Tuesday, also known as Sovereign’s Day or Prince’s Holiday. It is a great day for the Principality and it represents the bond between Monegasque and Prince Albert and his family. For several days now, the small state is celebrating a full program of activities, but it is this November 19 when the high day happens. The Prince, along with his wife Princess Charlene, and the entire Grimaldi family attended the official event.
At 9:30 a.m., the royal family went to the Cathedral of Our Lady Immaculate, also known as the Monaco Cathedral, to participate in thanksgiving. te deum. It was the most solemn act of the day and, in addition to the royal couple, the Princesses Carolina and Estefania, who are the other great pillars of the Monegasque king, and his nephews were not absent. This is the last child of Princess Estefania. They all took their seats on one side of the temple, beautifully decorated with white and red flowers as the colors of the state.
Princess Charlene has once again made an impact with her style. The Prince’s wife has a very intense schedule and after three years of her return, six months away from her official duties due to a serious ENT infection, which has sparked all sorts of rumors about her true health and her marriage.
Princess Charlene opted for a bright mauve design featuring a jacket and pant suit, black shoes and a minimal headdress with a dark net. This is one of the most different and risky stylistic bets of the wife of Prince Albert, who in recent years has always chosen white or red, the tone of the national flag. Meanwhile, her aunt opted for dark, straight-cut coats. For her part, Carlotta Casiraghi wore a deep blue Chanel design. Alejandra of Hanover also opted for a darker tone and wore a satin brown suit.
The Monegasque sovereign and his wife’s younger sister had a lively chat before mass, which again shows how close and complex their friendship is. At the beginning of 2024 we saw them at a solidarity football match where they shared some interesting hugs that highlighted the relationship between the two.
Members of Monaco’s authorities and civil life also attended the religious ceremony, as well as Melanie-Antoinette Costello de Massy, whose mother, Elisabeth-Anne de Massy, was a first cousin of Prince Albert and Princess Stephanie and Carolina. He has become one of Charlene’s best supporters in the Principality. Charles of Habsburg was also inside the church.
Congratulations from twins Jacques and Gabriella
Those who missed out inside the cathedral were Prince Jacques and Gabriella, Alberto and Charlene of Monaco’s children, who don’t usually attend mass, but didn’t miss the rest of the events since the palace. Very friendly, the little ones posed in the square and wished a Happy National Day. The little princess wore a light blue coat and a headdress, while her twin brother wore a military uniform like their father as usual. In less than a month, on December 10, the youngest members of the palace will turn ten.
To coincide with this celebration, Prince Albert gave an interview Monaco – Matin Where he talks about his children. “They are growing wonderfully. They are curious about everything. They ask more and more questions and assert their individuality. It’s fantastic to be able to experience this up close. They are athletes. “Gabriela has a little more talent for drawing and painting than Jacques, who prefers screens (…) They are increasingly aware of their roles and their future responsibilities, but I don’t want to influence their development too much.” As for how their young children live, National Day said that “they’re excited to see what happens.”
After the religious ceremony, shortly after 11:00 a.m., Albert II and his entire family went to the Grimaldi Palace to present insignia and medals that gave way to a military parade in the square of the royal residence. It was then that the palace balconies were filled with the youngest members of the dynasty. Prince’s Police Corps, Fire Department as well as Department of Public Safety participated in the march.
